| Just a bit of my own thoughts regarding "Lynyrd Skynyrd". Ronnie Van Zant was not an imposing presence as far as stature in height. I recall hearing a young woman say once after seeing "Bon Jovy" in concert that she was (by her body language) disappointed to see how short the brothers were. As a tribute to Van Zant’s dedication to the presentation of his music and disregard to the fame or celebrity there is the following fact. Van Zant kicked off his cowboy boots before every live performance. The boots that would have added another 2 inches to his 5′ 7" frame would have hindered his ability to perform with the same utmost ability that he demanded from those other band members who suffered Van Zant’s grueling demands of perfection. Van Zant performed bare-foot so he could feel on the stage floor. His dedication was to the music itself or the ticket buying audience. | |
